Our family, in the scheme of things are a fairly traditional country family. We talk a lot too...kind of unusual for a family of boys but there is constant banter.
Last night I had a conversation with my youngest son who is not far off turning 8.
"Did you have a good day today with Grandma and Grandad?"
"Is that a rhetorical question?"
"What is a rhetorical question?"
"You know when you ask a question that you don't really want to get an answer to"
Eldest son chimes in, "You know like in advertising where they ask a question that gets you thinking but don't get your answer"...
"Right, no it is not a rhetorical question"
"Yes I had a great day at Grandma's. We went swimming, watched MKR and had chips for lunch"
"Where did you learn about rhetorical questions?"
"School of course, you know persuasive language"
I have been out of the schoolroom for a week and look what happens....sensational stuff!
Rue the day they start using bigger words than us Trudy.
